After having to cancel the first two planned events due to COVID 19, we are ready to finally kick off the 2020 Points Series presented by JConcepts on Saturday, June 13th at Redding RC and Hobby! With the help of Donald Epidendio and Jacob Smallwood, the track has been completely leveled and rebuilt with all new dirt obstacles after having two dump truck loads of dirt delivered earlier this year. The track area is now larger with level ground for pit tables where the mud pit used to be.
The format for the first event will be slightly modified as we will be running two rounds of racing as well as the first round of freestyle. The event will start with the Fun class running a double elimination bracket before we run qualifying for round 1 to seed the “Crazy 8’s” style racing bracket for both classes. The results of that bracket will be used to seed Round 2 which will be a Vegas-style J-Hook complete with a chicane before the straightaway.
The Fun Class will run a second bracket and then all Points Series competitors will get one practice lap paired up before going into the next racing bracket. At the completion of both of the racing brackets will be Round 1’s freestyle competition. The points accumulated for the Round 1 “Crazy 8’s” bracket plus freestyle will be used to determine the overall champion for Round 1.
The racing points for Round 2 will carry over to the North vs. South Showdown in July where the freestyle score from that event will count towards Round 2’s points. The July event will have trophies for the racing and freestyle winner of those events in addition to the freestyle and Round 2 overall event champion trophy which will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.
Please remember to maintain social distancing at the event and do not come if you are experiencing symptoms of being sick. Masks are recommended, but not required. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the track!
What: Nor Cal RC Monster Truck Showdown 2020 Points Series Rounds 1 and 2 presented by JConcepts.
When: Saturday, June 13, 2020. Registration starts at 11:00, driver’s meeting at 11:30.
Where: Redding RC & Hobby 7400 Highway 273, Redding, CA
Cost: $15 for first truck, $10 for the second truck per class. Fun class entries are $10. *Note: This is the total cost for the day for both rounds, you will not have to pay twice to race in both brackets.
Other Info:
- There will not be a practice session prior to the race as we anticipate having the track completely painted and with 3 classes doing two rounds of racing, plus freestyle, we want the track to be in the best condition possible (and you’ll want to save your batteries!)
