Originally planned as the middle point of the season, our next event is going to be a unique format as we are welcoming racers from the So Cal RC Monster Truck Racing Series to come up and join us for a night of racing and freestyle at Redding RC & Hobby. So far, we already have 15 confirmed trucks coming up from Southern California to compete! Those who have been following the series know that last year, we had 8 additional trucks come up and compete in Round 4 of the Points Series, and we are continuing to try and create both a camaraderie and friendly rivalry with our Southern California counterparts in the hobby.
Event information
What: North vs. South Showdown
Where: Redding RC & Hobby 7400 Hwy 273, Redding, CA
When: July 11, 2020. Registration starts at 6:00 PM, drivers meeting at 7:00 PM.
Cost: $15 for first truck, $10 for second in class. Two trucks max per class. Drivers will get a raffle ticket with each entry, additional raffle tickets can be purchased in quantities of 3 for $5. Those who wear a mask will be awarded an additional 5 raffle tickets with their entry.
Health: Public health officials now require Californians to wear masks or cloth face coverings in most settings outside the home. This is an outdoor event with plenty of space to practice safe social distancing. Masks are recommended if you cannot maintain 6 feet of distancing with those not from your household. If you or immediate family members are experiencing symptoms of being sick or have been exposed to someone who is, please do not attend this event. We are all used to these requirements as we live this everyday. We want to make sure every person has a safe and fun time at our event and that we can continue to have them.
FAQ’s
So explain how the points are effected by this event again?
Due to Round 1 and 2 of racing being combined (and in the interest of not completely destroying everyone’s truck and the track), only one round of freestyle has occurred so far. While the event is an exhibition that will not take into account the results of the trucks from the So Cal series, the freestyle portion’s scores will be applied to Round 2. At the end of the event, the points from the J-Hook bracket of racing plus the freestyle will be totaled for Round 2 and the event champion will be awarded.
If I did not make it to the first race, or can’t make it to the July race, will my points still count?
Yes. For example, if you raced in June but cannot make July’s race, you will receive a 0 for the freestyle score, but the points from racing still remain. Likewise, if you did not make it to June, but are starting the series you will have a 0 for Round 1, but get points for freestyle at this event for Round 2.
How much practice do we get?
In an effort to keep the track in the best condition possible and to allow everyone equal opportunity to race on the track, (especially with all of the folks traveling to compete at this event) there will not be any practice on the track prior to the drivers meeting. At the conclusion of the drivers meeting, drivers will pair up and get one pass in each lane with every truck entry they have. Everyone in the Monster Truck class will get two qualifying passes while the 2.2 class will be randomly seeded for their exhibition race.
What classes are offered?
The North vs. South Showdown will feature the Monster Truck class only, however we will also be running a randomly seeded exhibition race for the 2.2 class as well as freestyle competition for both classes where the score will count towards Round 2.
What other stuff is happening at the event?
Trever Adamo is going to get some serious “Hang Time” and attempt a long jump over 50′ to kick things off. We also have custom event trophies and a raffle thanks to our great series sponsors that will include monster truck bodies, gift certificates, hats, shirts, and more.
