As the 2020 Points Series winds down, we are excited to announce the addition of a new class for the 2021 season: Retros! These trucks are in the spirit of the “Stage 2” monster trucks from the late 80’s and early 90’s. This will be a somewhat spec class to make for a fun and more even playing field for all skill levels that will compete on era-appropriate courses crushing RC car bodies. The trucks are meant to be bigger, slower, bouncier, and reflect the look of the period (the more chrome, the better). The trucks do not need to be a replica, but should be period appropriate with a 1993 or older body.
All Retro Class trucks will run 27T brushed Axial #AX24004 motors on 2S lipo batteries and must have the label in tact. We will be running similar rules to the Trigger King Series for wheels, tires, and axles which are posted in the Class Rules section. The class will compete between the end of racing and before freestyle with a randomly seeded, double-elimination bracket. So dust off that old Clodbuster or build a custom shafty and bring it out next year for a class that is sure to be a lot of fun for everyone.
