The final Racer Recap of the year features series promoter Jeremy Bunting who finished 2nd and 3rd in the Monster Truck Class in addition to taking home the Fat Cat Customz Freestyle Championship for the Monster Truck Class. Here are his thoughts on the season and what’s in store for 2021.
Name: Jeremy Bunting (@jeremy_bunting134)
Trucks: Bad Company and Crash Test Dummy
Sponsors: JConcepts, Fat Cat Customz, So Cal Monster Trucks
What got you into racing R/C monster trucks?
I had a somewhat modified SMT10 and went to a race down in Fresno a few years ago and enjoyed the competition even though I did terrible. I met some great people that were a lot of fun to race with and have been hooked ever since.
What was your biggest accomplishment this season?
Putting both of my trucks on the podium and being in contention to win the whole thing was awesome. I was able to pick up my first overall event win in the Points Series and took home the Fat Cat Customz Freestyle Championship which was a nice way to cap off the season.
What are you looking to improve on next season?
As a racer, I want to move up one more spot in the standings and take home the championship. I’m excited to represent JConcepts this next year as well as Fat Cat Customz and So Cal Monster Trucks and want to continue to compete at a high level and stay consistent.
As a promoter, I have a lot of plans to improve event production quality including crush car obstacles, lane barricades that will also serve as sponsor displays, and some other fun ideas. We’re stepping up the YouTube coverage with multiple cameras to capture event footage, and bringing back our current sponsors along with adding some great new ones.
What are your thoughts on how the points series went this year?
Being able to put on a full season of events in a safe manner during a pandemic was a lot of work but very satisfying. Having the series grow despite having to reschedule the entire first half of the season made it worthwhile. I learned a lot this year and am excited for what’s in store for the 2021 season. Having a long-jump record set at the North vs South Summer Showdown and over 30 competing trucks was incredible and I am looking forward to making it be an even bigger event next year. I think we have a great group of racers and next season should be a lot of fun with the new Retro class and the release of the Losi LMT which will bring more racers to the series. I am incredibly grateful to the series sponsors JConcepts, Insano Industries, and Fat Cat Customz that stayed with us and all their support in this crazy year.
What are you planning on running next season?
I will be competing in all 3 classes next year! I’ll be debuting 2 all-new SCMT Warpath chassis for the MT class once again running the “Bad Company Ice” variant plus “Sinistar” wrapped by Fat Cat Customz. I’ll also be campaigning the JConcepts Regulator “Shotgun” in the Retro class, and a Black Market RC BRD chassis bringing back the “Hooligan” truck for the 2.2 class.
