New Classes and Rules Updates for 2023 Season!

On December 10th, the rule planning committee met to discuss feedback received from racers after the 2022 Points Series and will be implementing some changes including two additional classes to give racers more time on the track! Here is a summary of the decisions made:

  • A Novice Class will be added open to racers with less experience to get more track time and race more even competition. This class will be limited to one truck, 2.2 or 2.6 class with two additional practice laps and a randomly seeded racing bracket. Points will not be kept for this class and freestyle is not offered. Racers who have made the podium the last two seasons are ineligible and once a racer has won three races in this class for the season, they are no longer eligible to race in the Novice Class. Entry fee for this class is just $5 and the same class rules apply. Novice Class racers can continue to race in the other classes offered.
  • A “2.6 Scale Spec Class” is being added that will have similar class rules to the RCMTC “Challenger Class” and Showtime “Ultra Mod” class ran back east in which trucks will be limited in motor and battery size running a full cage truck with shocks on axle. For 2023, this will be an exhibition class only to dial in the parameters and gain interest to be a part of the 2024 Points Series. Trucks will freestyle with the “one and done” rollover rule in this class. See the “Class Rules” tab for full details.
  • Retro class will be reduced to $10/entry. Additionally, motors will be limited to name brand labeled 27t motors such as Axial, JConcepts, etc. Due to wide-discrepancies in speed noted on Injora motors, they will no longer be allowed going forward. Wheel speed will continue to be measured during tech.
  • In the event that a racer has two trucks matched against each other, the higher ranked truck will automatically advance, however the racer will now have the option to make a bye run pass. The same rules of being staged within 60 seconds of being called to race will continue to apply.
  • For exhibition events such as the Summer Showdown and ASD Autism Awareness Crawl, chassis and center diff flexibility will be in place to allow more racers to compete. Additionally, exhibition events will feature the “one and done” rollover rule for freestyle.

Stay tuned as we are finalizing the 2023 schedule which will feature 5 rounds of the JConcepts Points Series, the Summer Showdown, AAC Mini Event, and more!
