Now that the 2020 Points Series has come to a close, every week we’ll be putting out a “Racer Recap” to get the thoughts of our regular competitors on how their year went and their plans for 2021. Up first is the man who finished in 1st for the Monster Truck Class: Wes Harriger.
Name: Wes Harriger
Trucks: “Excaliber” SMT10 (MT Class)
What got you into R/C monster trucks?
A Traxxas TMaxx got me in monster trucks and then I had a Traxxas Revo which I raced for a couple of years. This year is my first year of racing a straight axle monster truck. I saw the Nor Cal points series last year so I decided to build a SMT10 and go race the series this year.
What was your biggest accomplishment this season?
Winning the Nor Cal RC Monster Truck Showdown Points Series.
What are you looking to improve on next season?
My driving and nerves. I think they go hand in hand: the more you practice your driving, the more confidence is gained and the less nerves you have.
What are your thoughts on how the points series went this year?
I really enjoyed the series and how it was put together. It was nice how everyone that showed up on a monthly basis formed a bond.
What are you planning on running next season?
Next year I would like build a second truck for the 2.6 class and a retro class truck.
