The next Racer Recap features the other recipient of the 2021 Most Improved Award: Zac Soares. After joining halfway through the season last year, Zac had an impressive 2021 season finishing on the podium in both the 2.2 and MT classes and going from one truck to four entries this season.

How long have you been racing RC monster trucks? About a year and a half
What was your biggest accomplishment this season?
It’s hard to pick one. I’m going to have to go with the Most Improved award. I really put in a lot of work to be a better racer, it’s a good feeling to be recognized for it.
Who was your toughest competition this year?
This is also hard to drill down to one driver, it was a very tight field this year. Gun to my head, I would have to say Jeremy Bunting. He was so consistent this season, but he also balanced it with the right amount of aggressiveness. Early in the year I would have said David, but he missed one race and gave us the breathing room we needed. Next year he is going to be trouble.
What are you trying to improve on this off-season?
I really want to get “Prospector” dialed in, I really think there is a lot of potential for that BMRC chassis. I also want to continue practicing my driving.
What are your thoughts on how the Points Series went this year?
What an amazing year for the series. Lots of quality competitors and great looking trucks. There were some awesome track layouts too.
What trucks/classes are you planning to compete in next season?
Next year will be basically the same trucks with some body changes. Those that follow the series might have already seen the new look for “Prospector” on the BRD chassis. The MT class “Excaliber” on the Warpath chassis is getting a new look for next year and the 2.2 “Excaliber” on the Racehorse chassis will get the snoop nose version of the “Excaliber”.
