Name: Jeremy Bunting
How long have you been racing RC Monster Trucks?
4 years
What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
Getting sponsored by JConcepts to start the year and then being able to take first place in both the 2.2 and the MT class was awesome! Winning the North vs South Showdown Freestyle with such a big field of heavy hitters was a highlight too. I had some big wins when they mattered the most and there was a lot of tough competition this season that I had to fight off until the very end.
Who was your toughest competition this year?
The competition really stepped up this year, but I’d say either David Heimbigner or Wes Harriger. David and I had some epic battles that we usually had to check replays on, and Wes just seems to have my number right now. I got lucky that David missed an event and Wes was struggling early in the year, if there was another race round in the series, the podium might have looked different.
What are you trying to improve on this off-season?
I figure you’re either getting better or getting worse, so I’m going to try to keep improving my driving and minimize the times that I beat myself. I think the trucks I have can handle more aggressive driving and I’m going to be working on improving some of the suspension setups on the 2.2 and Retro rigs.
What are your thoughts on how the Points Series went this year?
I am very pleased with how the Series grew this year. We more than doubled in size, added a new Retro class, put on the biggest race on the West Coast while also adding quality venues, sponsors, full YouTube event coverage, and overall production value to the events. Being able to team up with the ASD Autism Awareness Crawl was fun and I’m stoked to be doing the monster truck portion for that great cause again next season and continuing the momentum from this year to making 2022 the best season yet.
What trucks/classes are you planning to compete in next year?
The JConcepts Regulator “Shotgun” will be returning to the Retro class and I can’t wait to see how that points battle will play out in 2022. I’m planning on bringing back the “Crash Test Dummy” , this time on the BMRC 2.2 chassis and on a new JConcepts Raptor body. The original “Bad Company” will be returning on the championship SCMT Warpath chassis while my other Warpath will be getting a makeover as “Titan” for the MT class.
