Happy New Year racers! With the new year comes new sponsors, new events, and a new schedule.
First and foremost, we are proud to announce that we have the leader in scale R/C Monster Truck parts and accessory design and manufacturing as the title sponsor to our series: JConcepts! In addition, we are thrilled to welcome back Fat Cat Customz as our Freestyle Championship presenting sponsor. Also our friends from Insano Industries have stepped up and made a huge new backdrop for the series as well as a table cover and crew shirt.
For 2020, the home of the JConcepts Nor Cal R/C Monster Truck Showdown will be AMain Hobbies Silver Dollar R/C Raceway in Chico and Redding R/C & Hobby. This means we will have the luxury of having all-dirt ramps for racing at all of our events this season.
Now that I have your attention, get out your calendars and let’s get to the 2020 schedule below:
For 2020, we will once again have a 5 round Points Series battle for the Monster Truck and 2.2 Mini-Monster classes in addition to offering a Fun Class for those new to the hobby. Things will get kicked off on May 9th in Redding and feature the debut of the Crazy 8’s course followed by the return of the popular St. Louis-style course for Round 2.
As the weather warms up, we’ll have our first race under the lights back in Chico: the North vs. South Summer Showdown in July where we’ll invite our friends from the So Cal Monster Trucks Racing Series to compete for state supremacy. More details will be announced closer to the event.
The Points Series will pick up again in August for another night race in Redding before wrapping up in September on an all new over/under track for the championship in Chico! We’ll close out the season again on Halloween with the second edition of the Monster Bash!
In 2019, the series had a cash prize pool and awarded the top 3 in standings trophies excluding drivers with multiple entries. For 2020, the cash prize pool has been eliminated and the top 3 drivers in the Monster Truck class and 2.2 Mini-Monsters class will receive trophies based on overall standings. We will continue have racing, freestyle, and overall event champion trophies for each event for the Monster Truck and Mini-Monster classes as well as raffling off prizes thanks to our sponsors.
